Prepare yourselves to embark on an unique musical journey as Bad Papa livestreams on Kahilu.TV on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 7:00pm HST. Bad Papa features Jammin Joe Buck and Bob Bojorquez.
Buck is a talented, blind music recording artist, songwriter, and performer who is very proud to be Kanaka (a native Hawaiian). He is a descendent of the Lyman family from Oahu. On the other side of his tree, his father and grandparents were professional jazz musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area. Having musical ancestral ties to the Hawaiian Islands and the mainland, Buck carries on the music tradition here in Hawaii. Buck plays several instruments including guitar, bass, drums, ukuleles, horns, and vocals. From beautiful island instrumentals to hard-grooving blues, Joe’s got it covered! His guitar skills have been praised by legendary guitarists such as Steve Miller and Sammy Hagar to name a few!
Bob Bojorquez has been playing and writing music for over 50 years. He grew up in Southern California and in the late ‘60s was close enough to the Hollywood music scene to be influenced by many of the great artists and performers of that era. Bob says that music is in his being all the time and he cannot go a day without it. Moving to Hawaii was a great musical experience for Bob. He fell in love with the rhythmic and melodic sound of Hawaiian slack key music. He started teaching himself slack key guitar and he started writing his own slack key guitar music. It was very fortunate when Bob and Joe met and started talking about the kind of music they enjoyed playing. That day they listened to each other play and decided that they should play and write music together.
This concert is free to all subscribers, and only available to others as a pay-per-view purchase. The original live broadcast will be available to view 24 hours after the initial airing.
